THP 004: Transitioning From Practising As A Conventional MD To A Holistic MD
Happiness can essentially be boiled down to three key things; Something to do, Someone to love, & Something to look forward to - Dr Gordon Livingston
Dr. Anita Sadaty is a full-time, Board Certified, attending physician practising Obstetrics and Gynecology at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.
She attended medical school at Cornell University graduating with honours as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha in l994 and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and completed her residency year at North Shore University Hospital in 1998.
She joined Great Neck Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998, a group specializing in all aspects of women's healthcare, offering a comprehensive range of gynecologic, obstetrical, radiologic and aesthetic services to suit women's growing health care needs.
As you’ll hear in this conversation, Dr. Sadaty’s father, a retired paediatrician, was very concerned about the escalating rates of chronic disease in his home country of Iran and this started him on a journey of research which eventually lead him to write a number of books in his native language about modern chronic disease. Through this process, his views on medicine became more holistic and this inspired Dr. Sadaty to assess how she was practising which ultimately lead her into the world of alternative/functional medicine.
In this episode, we discuss the challenges of working as a conventional OB-GYN as well as the challenges of transitioning from practising as a conventional doctor into a model of working as a holistic medical doctor.
